Chris Cornell es va suïcidar el 18 de maig del 2017. Al seu funeral, Chester Bennington, cantant de Linkin Park i amic seu, va cantar l’Hallelujah de Leonard Cohen. Dos mesos després, el 20 de juliol (el dia que Chris Cornell hauria fet 53 anys), Chester també va decidir plegar de viure.
Un mes més tard, a l’agost, Toni Cornell –filla de Chris Cornell que aleshores tenia dotze anys– puja a l’escenari amb Ryan Tedder, cantant del grup OneRepublic, per dedicar-los l’Hallellujah.
